A chip-scale, multi-analyte molecular detection in real-time can significantly improve the effectiveness of molecular assays in early disease detection and therapy. However, the effectiveness of current molecular sensing technologies is hindered by the necessity for complex sample preparation and large equipment in centralized laboratory settings. The microring resonator-based molecular sensor emerges as a compelling candidate thanks to its compatibility with CMOS technology, high sensitivity, and scalability. This technical report introduces microring resonator design optimization in a monolithic silicon photonics process technology, microring resonator architecture, and packaging flow, laying the groundwork for future advancements in this project.
