Humphrey Chen

Humphrey Chen is Executive Director at Verizon Wireless focused on New Technologies in the New Market Development area. He primarily works with venture capitalists and start-ups to proactively fulfill on new opportunities in the 4G world.

He leads Verizon’s 4G Venture Forum (www.4gvf.com) and prior to joining Verizon he used to work at Avaya where he extended office dial-tone to the mobile world via the $15M acquisition of Traverse Networks. Chen also previously focused on Unified Communications and Business Process Integration while at Microsoft in Redmond, WA.

Prior to his corporate life, he founded his own VC backed start-up and so in his own words has evolved into a “corporatized entrepreneur”. Chen’s communications experience began at AT&T Bell Labs and even took him through one summer at the United States Federal Communications Commission’s Wireless bureau during the PCS-C block auctions.

Chen has an undergraduate degree from M.I.T. and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
