Catalog Description: Analysis and design of electronic circuits for communication systems, with an emphasis on integrated circuits for wireless communication systems. Analysis of noise and distortion in amplifiers with application to radio receiver design. Power amplifier design with application to wireless radio transmitters. Radio-frequency mixers, oscillators, phase-locked loops, modulators, and demodulators.

Prerequisites: EL ENG W240A; MAS-IC students only.

Credit Restrictions: Students will receive no credit for EE W242A after taking EE 142, EE 242A, or EE 242B.

Formats:
Spring: 3 hours of web-based lecture and 1 hour of web-based discussion per week
Summer: 4.5 hours of web-based lecture and 1.5 hours of web-based discussion per week
Fall: 3 hours of web-based lecture and 1 hour of web-based discussion per week

Grading basis: letter

Final exam status: Written final exam conducted during the scheduled final exam period
