Technical Report No. UCB/EECS-2008-31

April 6, 2008

http://www2.eecs.berkeley.edu/Pubs/TechRpts/2008/EECS-2008-31.pdf

This report presents an analysis of the noise sources limiting the sensitivity performance of radio receivers employing envelope-detection downconversion . The classical linear noise analysis is upgraded with second order nonlinear effects to get accurate sensitivity predictions. Calculated values match measured prototypes performance within 1dB.
